Public Assistance Consulting
Administrative costs associated with the public assistance process are eligible for reimbursement… our qualified consultants are trained to navigate the confusion of the Public Assistance Program.

AER's Public Assistance Consultants provide assistance to state and local governmental agencies and eligible private non-profit organizations to help expedite financial recovery from a disaster. Many of these organizations will incur disaster-related costs which are eligible for reimbursement through FEMA's Public Assistance Program. AER has qualified consultants trained to navigate the confusion of the public assistance process to help insure our clients recover fully from their losses. We work closely with our clients during all phases of disaster recovery in order to maximize the amount of funding and expedite the obligation of those funds. We customize our services to meet the unique needs and challenges of each client; however, the following services are typical of those we provide:
  • Attend the applicant briefing and kick off meeting with the client
  • Complete damage and eligibility assessments
  • Identification of hazard mitigation opportunities
  • Preparation of scopes of work for eligible repairs
  • Compiling required documentation for project worksheets
  • Preparation of project worksheets
  • Submittal and tracking of project worksheets and payment reimbursements
  • Preparation and representation during project closeout and audits
  • Writing appeals when necessary
We understand that organizations are frequently overwhelmed with the task of restoring basic services following a disaster. AER's Public Assistance Consultants know and understand the complicated FEMA regulations and policies; and we remain informed of any changes that FEMA or Congress make as they relate to disaster recovery assistance. We are a valuable resource to our clients, and our primary focus will always be to ensure compliance with FEMA regulations and policies. We evaluate each project for our clients to ensure that all eligible items have been taken into consideration on their Project Worksheets and that no ineligible items are included. Only FEMA can determine project eligibility, however, we have the experience to identify those items that FEMA typically finds eligible or ineligible. This experience ultimately saves our clients time and money.
